This policy covers the Weather4Fly mobile apps for iOS, watchOS and Android, and the w4fly.com website.

Summary

Weather4Fly does not require an account, does not show advertising and does not use third-party analytics to create a usage or advertising profile. Location is used when needed to request weather and map information, and is transmitted securely to the relevant service provider. Weather4Fly does not maintain a location history on its own servers.

1. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy explains how Weather4Fly (“Weather4Fly”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information when you use the Weather4Fly mobile applications, Apple Watch companion experience, or this website.

2. Information used by the mobile apps

Location

If you grant location permission or choose a location, the app uses precise or approximate coordinates to provide weather, radar, map and location-based flight information. Coordinates are sent from your device over an encrypted connection to the service needed to answer the request.

Weather4Fly does not operate a server-side location history and does not use your location for advertising. You can deny or revoke location permission in system settings and use a manually selected location where the feature permits.

Weather, radar and environmental requests

Depending on platform, region and feature availability, requests may be processed by Apple WeatherKit, Google weather services, Google Maps Platform, NOAA or other data providers identified in the app. These providers may receive the coordinates and technical network information necessary to return the requested data, such as an IP address. Their processing is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. Weather4Fly receives product and entitlement status needed to unlock features, but does not receive your full payment card details. Store providers may associate purchases with your store account under their own policies.

Preferences and My Hangar

Settings such as units, appearance, tilt navigation, saved locations, selected aircraft and My Hangar are stored locally on your device. They are not used to create an advertising profile. Deleting the app or clearing its app data removes this local information, subject to device backup behavior controlled by your platform.

Diagnostics

Weather4Fly does not integrate an independent advertising or analytics SDK. Apple, Google, your device manufacturer or the app store may make aggregate diagnostics and crash information available under your device and store privacy settings. Those platform processes are controlled by the relevant provider.

3. Information collected through this website

You can browse w4fly.com without creating an account. Like most websites, the hosting infrastructure may process technical logs such as IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time for security, reliability and abuse prevention.

If you email us, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you choose to provide, together with limited technical details used to prevent spam and investigate delivery problems. We use this information only to answer the request, provide support, protect the service and meet legal obligations.

4. Why we process information

  • To provide weather, radar, map, airspace and location-based features you request.
  • To remember your on-device preferences and aircraft selection.
  • To validate purchases and restore premium access.
  • To respond to support, privacy and contact requests.
  • To secure, maintain and troubleshoot the apps and website.
  • To comply with applicable law and enforce our terms.

5. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only as necessary with providers that deliver the requested service or support our operations, including:

  • Apple: WeatherKit, App Store, Apple platform services and optional diagnostics.
  • Google: Weather, Maps Platform, Play Services, Google Play Billing and optional diagnostics.
  • NOAA and environmental data providers: Weather or space-weather information.
  • Hosting and email providers: Website delivery, security and support correspondence.
  • Authorities or professional advisers: When legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety and the service.

6. Retention

Location coordinates used for an app request are not retained in a Weather4Fly server-side location history. Local app preferences remain on your device until you change them, clear app data or uninstall the app. Support correspondence and related security records are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain records, prevent abuse and meet legal requirements.

7. Security

Network requests to supported weather, map and store providers use encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit the information handled by Weather4Fly and use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards.

8. International processing

Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their privacy terms and applicable safeguards govern those transfers. By requesting a feature, the minimum information needed to deliver it may be routed through the provider’s global infrastructure.

9. Your choices and rights

  • Control location permission in iOS or Android settings.
  • Choose a manual location instead of current location where available.
  • Control platform diagnostics and store privacy settings.
  • Delete locally stored settings by clearing app data or uninstalling.
  • Ask about, correct or delete information in support correspondence by emailing hello@w4fly.com, subject to legal exceptions.

Depending on where you live, additional rights may apply, including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or complaint to a supervisory authority.

10. Children

Weather4Fly is intended for adult drone operators and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the website, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when features, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be revised, and material changes may also be communicated in the app or store listing.
